Alligator emerges from storm sewers at Mobile apartment complex

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – An alligator made an unusual appearance at an apartment complex near downtown Mobile on Monday afternoon – the alligator was seen coming out of a storm sewer by onlookers as the children came home from school.

A wild afternoon for the neighborhood – Anthony Davis and his girlfriend Kenisha Miller were on their way home, walking down Washington Avenue when they had to brake and do a double take.

“We saw an alligator come out of the drainage hole and we were like, ‘Is this a real alligator? “” Miller said.

The two said they were trying to hurry to get police and hunting and wildlife officials because the alligator was slowly slowing towards the apartment complex. Less than 50 feet from the road, a school bus dropped children off and others ignored the reptile.

The alligator drew a crowd of onlookers as responders tried to deal with it, all shocked at how it got there in the first place.

“A lot of people in the neighborhood started going out with their phones and stuff and tried to record them because they were just as shocked as we were. No, no, never seen anything like that, in the hood anyway. Davis said.

Hunting and wildlife officials were able to safely capture the gator and get it into the back of their truck and out of the area.
