Allayaali fails to book Guinea’s place in Newmarket job | Race News

Allayaali looks set to avoid the Qipco 1000 Guineas after failing to impress during pre-race practice at Newmarket on Wednesday.

The Dark Angel daughter won two of her four starts for Charlie Hills last season and ended her youth campaign by finishing second in the Group Three Oh So Sharp Stakes in October.

The Shadwell-owned filly was a 33-1 overall shot for the first Fillies’ Classic of the season before a gallop with two stable mates under Jim Crowley.

But after sitting last of the three, Allayaali was unable to pick up pace at Vindolanda or Saratoga Gold and a tilt to Guinea glory seems unlikely.

Hills said: “She’s been a bit in season last week, but about that (training) we’ll probably be conservative enough to come here now unless she starts to sprout some wings in the week. next.

“She’s not there in her coat yet and I think at this stage we could look at something else. There’s a Listed race a few weeks after the Guineas.

“The two horses she has worked with are not bad and are both older horses and we will just check as she was in season last week and just showing signs there.

“That’s really why we came here – to see if she was up to it. There are a lot of races for her and it’s a long season.”
