Alen Babic has vowed to deliver another brutal knockout as ‘The Savage’ resumes their assault on the heavyweight division at Newcastle.
The unbeaten Croatian contender faces Damian Chambers on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports, as Babic seeks his seventh straight victory over Bill Lewis Ritson-Jeremias Ponce.
Chambers displayed his own knockout power in 11 wins, with just one loss, and Babic relishes an explosive encounter, in his first fight since successful shoulder surgery.
“They gave me so many companions. I said ‘no’, I don’t want someone who is going to fall, because they know they can’t beat me,” Babic said.
“He’s a guy with a lot of knockouts, 11-1s, he’s a very, very good guy. I’ve seen him.
“It’s going to be a great battle and I think it will be over in a lap or two because he’s a puncher. He’s not really a motor. He’s tough.
“I see him as Shawndell Winters. You know how that fight went.”
Joe Laws is also determined to get his promising career back on track after his first professional loss to Rylan Charlton last October.
The 26-year-old, who faces Chris Adaway, told Sky Sports: “Every person, whether you are a boxer, a footballer, if you work 9-5 you always have setbacks in life.
“But you can use those setbacks to learn, or you can use the setbacks to dwell on them and make excuses.
“I got up, I got back into the gym. I was in bad shape over Christmas, but nonetheless I’m here, I feel good about myself and can’t wait to show the world what I’m around. “
Watch Alen Babic and Joe Laws on the Ritson vs Ponce Bill Saturday night, starting at 7 p.m. on Sky Sports.
