Albertville shooting: suspect found dead from self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say

Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith said the person suspected of being the gunman and his vehicle were found just before 6 a.m. in Guntersville.

The suspect was found dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“There is no danger to the public,” Smith said in the statement.

Smith said an employee began firing a gun at other employees around 2:30 am Tuesday “for an unknown reason,” according to a press release obtained by CNN affiliate WAFF.

Albertville is located in northern Alabama, approximately 80 km south of Huntsville.

The two injured employees were transported to Marshall Medical Center South where they are being treated. Their conditions were not immediately released.

Mueller, which distributes water and natural gas products, has 11 facilities in the United States and Canada, according to its website.

No names of those involved in the incident have been released as the next of kin are still on the record, Smith said.
