Alabama Primary Runoff Results: Wes Allen Wins GOP Nomination for Secretary of State

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — State Representative Wes Allen has won the Republican nomination for secretary of state in Alabama, according to The Associated Press.

Allen defeated his opponent, State Auditor Jim Zeigler, on Tuesday, June 21. Zeigler congratulated Allen on his victory and told WKRG News 5 that he would like to work for his former competitor’s campaign.

“I support Wes Allen in the general election and will work for his election,” Zeigler said. “I thank the hundreds of citizens who have supported me and worked for me. I couldn’t have entered the second round without their help.

Allen will face Democratic candidate Pamela Laffitte and Libertarian candidate Jason Shelby in November’s general election. Zeigler will continue to work as a state auditor until January 2023.
