Airtel Xstream Premium over-the-top (OTT) streaming service has launched in India. The Indian telecom provider says its new OTT service will aggregate content from 15 Indian and global OTT platforms including SonyLiv, Eros Now, Shorts TV, and more. This integration is supposed to provide access to over 10,000 movies and TV shows on a single platform. Additionally, Airtel said it is opting for one app, one subscription and one login experience for Xstream Premium users. Airtel’s new OTT service can be viewed on smartphones, tablets, laptops or through the Xstream set-top box.
Airtel’s new OTT service — Xstream Premium — was launched in India on Thursday. The Indian telecom provider’s video streaming service is priced at Rs. 149 per month or Rs. 1,499 per year. The platform will stream over 10,500 movies and TV shows from SonyLiv, Lionsgate Play, Eros Now, ManoramaMax, Hoichoi, Ultra, Epic On, ShortsTV, KLIKK, Divo, Dollywood Play, Namma Flix, Docubay, ShemarooMe and Hungama Play .
Airtel Xstream Premium can be watched on Airtel Xstream Box, Android TV, Fire TV, official website or through Android and iOS devices through Airtel Xstream app or website. Users will be able to view content on two screens at once. In addition, Xstream Premium aims to facilitate service for users by adopting a single app, a single subscription and a single login experience, as well as unified content and AI-based personalized content curation for users.
The Indian telecom provider also mentions that Airtel users can add their subscription cost to their phone bills to make payments easier.
Airtel says it is targeting 20 million subscribers for its Xstream Premium subscription, and according to Media Partners Asia, India’s OTT subscription market will reach $2 billion (about Rs. 14,996 crore) by 2025. number of Indian OTT subscriptions grow in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
