Airbus SE has tempered expectations of a surge in production of its best-selling jet, blaming supply chain challenges that threaten its ambition to rapidly expand a market share advantage it has opened with Boeing Co. during the pandemic.

The plane maker reported record earnings on Thursday and said it would restore its dividend, benefiting from still strong demand for its commercial jetliners. But it has reduced the likelihood of dramatically increasing future production rates of its A320, the single-aisle rival to Boeing’s 737 MAX.
