Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia announced on Thursday that he is stepping down from his role with the company.

The 40-year-old has been with the company since its inception in 2007 and will remain on the board.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to step back from my full-time operations role at Airbnb,” Gebbia said in a letter to employees. “The main reason for this transition is that it’s the only company I’ve ever helped create, and my brain is brimming with ideas to bring to the world.”
