SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — An air quality alert has been extended as more oak fire smoke heads towards our Bay Area neighborhoods.

LIVE: Tracking air quality in the Bay Area

Blue skies on Tuesday turn hazy and even a touch of brown on Wednesday as winds push more oak fire smoke towards us.

Wednesday’s skies will look gross and be filled with unhealthy particles. The good news is that the likelihood of danger to us is minimal.

The marine layer continues to undermine this column of unhealthy smoke. The depth of this purer air varies between 1,800′ and 2,000′.

Above this layer you will likely smell smoke if you enjoy hiking or visiting our high elevations.

The most unhealthy air remains above 5,000 feet, which is higher than any of our peaks.
