Ahead of Diablo 4’s season of loot changes, Blizzard teases other system reworks “similar in scope” and says it’s “very open to revisiting other parts of the game”
Diablo 4 Season 4’s upcoming loot overhaul likely won’t be the last major overhaul of the action-RPG system.
In case you missed it, Blizzard is making sweeping and fundamental changes to elements of Diablo 4. I won’t go through all the granular changes here because there are simply too many to list, but Blizzard has stated that the overall goal was to prioritize “quality.” on quantity” and helps you “accelerate your construction”. Even though Season 4 will add seasonal content, most of the upcoming update will also impact your Eternal characters. So this might be a good time to let some of your older versions stretch their legs.
To understand the scope of this loot overhaul, just consider that Blizzard felt it warranted Diablo 4’s first public test realm, allowing everyone to try out the changes before they were added to the game complete. Even so, lead producer Tim Ismay recently told GamesRadar+ that Blizzard will likely introduce more system overhauls of a similar magnitude.
“We are certainly actively discussing, or even directly working on, additional systems that we want to add to the game in the future, which we believe will make it an even more robust experience, similar in scope to what we have been doing for Season 4 with details,” he said. “We are very open to the idea of revisiting other parts of the game in the same way.”
Ismay didn’t go into detail about what’s being discussed internally, but enumerating was one of the community’s top issues, alongside issues like loadouts, dungeon design, and lack of content end of game. Only time will tell which component will be cut next.
Diablo 4 Season 4 plans to “preserve things that seemed overpowered” from the PTR – as long as they don’t literally “crash the game.”
