Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition New DLC now available on Microsoft Store, Steam for pre-orders


Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is getting a new downloadable content (DLC) update called Knights of the Mediterranean. The game developers have announced that the new DLC will add two new civilizations, 30 new random maps, nine new minor civilizations and two game modes. For the Knights of the Mediterranean DLC, players will have to spend additional Rs. 349. The DLC is available for pre-order on the Microsoft Store and Steam with a May 26 release date.

New additions in the DLC

The developers of Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition have announced the Knights of the Mediterranean DLC update and introduced several new additions to the existing game, such as new civilizations, maps, and game modes.

Two additional new game modes offered with the DLC are Diplomacy and Tycoon. Diplomacy allows players to switch allegiances mid-match and negotiate with other players. Tycoon, on the other hand, focuses on building economies. In Tycoon, the player will not have to maintain an army or defend against large-scale sieges.

The new DLC will feature two new civilizations to face, the Italians and the Maltese.

With Italian civilization, players will receive a free colonist with each technology, and economic buildings can research them at any age. Along with this there are two new buildings, the Basilica (I, 200w 200c) and Lombard (I, 100w 100c).

On the other hand, the Maltese civilization begins with a Grand Master. Units of this civilization gain additional hit points with each expedition and regain health over time when left idle. Four unique buildings are offered: Hospital (II, 100W), Commandery (II, 250W 100C), Depot (II, 50W 50C) and Fixed Cannon (III, 100W 600C).

In addition to new civilizations, players will also receive eight new historical maps, Italian Wars, Eighty Years’ War, Flood, Great Turkish War, Great Northern War, Napoleonic Wars, Russian Wars -turks and the thirty years war which is a multiplayer only map.

There are also nine new European Royal Houses, the House of Bourbon, the House of Wittelsbach, the House of Oldenburg, the House of Hanover, the House of Phanar, the House of Jagiellon, the House of Vasa, the House of Habsburg and Wettin’s house.

The Knights of the Mediterranean DLC is currently available for pre-order on Microsoft Store and Steam for an additional cost of Rs. 349 over the base game and will be released later this month on May 26. The third installation of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition launched in October 2020 and has since received four DLC updates. The base game without DLC is currently selling for Rs. 529 on Steam.
