AFD and CDG Development join forces

AFD and CDG Développement have chosen as areas of work the decarbonization of the activity zones of MEDZ, a subsidiary of CDG Développement and the development of the health system and the supply of care on the national territory.

Within the framework of the partnership between the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion du Maroc (CDG) and the French Development Agency (AFD), two pilot institutions of the IDFC (International Development Finance Club), CDG Development and the AFD signed a memorandum of understanding during the visit to Rabat of the Director General of AFD, Rémy Rioux. This agreement aims to contribute to the operationalization of the New Development Model (NMD), on the one hand through the long-term low carbon strategy of the Kingdom of Morocco and on the other hand through the social dimension of the NMD.

Reinforcing the achievements between the two Groups, the memorandum of understanding, signed between CDG Development and AFD, aims to promote the sustainable and inclusive development model chosen by Morocco in its NMD. Two common areas of cooperation have been selected:

  • The decarbonization of the activity zones of MEDZ, a subsidiary of CDG Development;
  • The development of the health system and the offer of care on the national territory.

Beyond this protocol, Specific Agreements will be designated signed between CDG Development and AFD to specify the concrete methods of carrying out joint operations, indicate the same source.

Omar Elyazghi, CEO of CDG Development indicated on the occasion that the group has initiated measures to mitigate the impacts induced by the activity of its economic activity parks, particularly in terms of design and development of new sustainable projects. , energy efficiency in buildings and wastewater and waste management. “We are pleased to see investment ready to support these sustainable investment efforts. In addition, within the framework of the Health Plan 2025, CDG Development and AFD are able to implement joint operations aimed at developing the hospital supply at provincial and regional levels” specifies the DG. For his part, Mihoub Mezouaghi, Director of AFD’s representation in Morocco, underlines that “Morocco is AFD’s leading partner, and our commitments from 2017 to 2021 reached 2.2 billion euros, including 85 % is with climate co-benefit. We are ready to support efforts to decarbonize the Moroccan economy, through concrete projects, and especially with CDG Development. We will also support the improvement of the care offer in the territories, essential elements of their resilience, for the benefit of the populations”.
