Adam Webster has signed a new five-year contract at Brighton until the summer of 2026.
The 26-year-old defender has become a big part of head coach Graham Potter’s plans, having initially joined Brighton from Bristol City for an initial £ 20million two years ago.
Webster, who can play in Potter’s favorite three-full-back lineup, has made 60 appearances in the Premier League, scoring four times.
Brighton were keen to tie him to a new contract, after Ben White left for £ 50million at Arsenal.
Speaking after Brighton’s friendly 3-1 victory at Luton on Saturday, Potter had suggested finding solutions within his squad despite White’s departure.
“We have enough competition in this area, we have enough good players, we can be flexible with how we set up,” Potter said. Sky Sports News.
“You can’t replace a £ 50million player, you have to be creative in the team’s solutions. We are well placed there.
“When the fees are where they are, it’s just a fantastic opportunity for us to grow the club and continue to grow as a team.”
