Actor Gary Busey charged with sex offenses after incident at Monster-Mania Con in New Jersey


CHERRY HILL, NJ — Gary Busey was charged with sexual offenses at a New Jersey fan convention this month.

The 78-year-old Malibu, Calif., resident was charged on Friday with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual interference, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment, the court said on Saturday. Cherry Hill Police.

The charges stem from violations at the annual Monster Mania convention at the Doubletree Hotel Aug. 12-14 in the Philadelphia suburb of Cherry Hill, police said.

The actor was scheduled as a featured guest for the three-day event.

Police did not identify the suspect as the actor, giving an age and hometown that matched those of the actor. An email has been sent to them requesting confirmation of identification and other details.

It was not immediately clear if the suspect had an attorney, and a rep for the actor did not immediately return a message seeking comment on Saturday.

Busey is widely known as a character actor, largely in supporting roles, although he rose to prominence and was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for playing the title role in the film. from 1978’s “The Buddy Holly Story”.
