Abortion laws require fair application

By John Amadou and Susan Brooks

We are convinced of the ability of Americans to solve the problem of abortion now that the Supreme Court has returned it to the democratic process. But it is crucial that law enforcement stay above the partisan fray. A case in Indiana leaves us deeply concerned about this.

Initially, some reports doubted that a 10-year-old rape victim from Ohio had traveled to Indiana for a legal abortion. There were also unsubstantiated allegations that the doctor who performed the abortion failed to report child abuse and the abortion performed on a girl under 16, as required by law in Indiana.
