Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume said in FNC’s “special report” on Wednesday that Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) was using a “publicity stunt” by ferrying migrants to Washington, DC.
Abbott sent buses chartered by the Texas Department of Emergency Management carrying migrants from South and Central America to the Capitol Hill office building, which houses the Washington, D.C. offices of NBC News, C -SPAN and Fox News.
Baier said, “Brit, what do you think of this move and having these full buses come to Washington, DC?”
Hume said: “I think it’s kind of a publicity stunt. It’s probably no coincidence that they were dropping off the migrants just outside our office in Washington where Lucas was reporting from.
He added: “I wonder how many other news outlets will really cover this event. Obviously, the intention is to shame politicians in Washington, especially in the administration, who seem unwilling or unable to do anything to truly stop the flow of migrants across the border. Now that Title 42 is about to be lifted, even if they leave other pandemic restrictions in place, they have a strong case. I think people have the impression in this country that these migrants cross the border illegally, that they stay here indefinitely, and that the administration does not try to do much about it.
