Aaron Rodgers speculation dominated the NFL offseason

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers plans to play for the Green Bay Packers this season after all, NFL Network reported on Monday.

The report comes the same day Green Bay executives spoke to Lambeau Field shareholders on the eve of training camp.

Rodgers, 37, stayed away from the squad, including skipping the mandatory minicamp, generating speculation for months on where he would play in the 2021 season, if at all.

Rodgers’ last public comments came earlier this month when he said he has devoted some time this offseason to his sanity and spiritual self.

Rodgers was the NFL MVP last season

On Monday, Packers chairman Mark Murphy and general manager Brian Gutekunst answered questions from shareholders on the status of the reigning NFL MVP.

Gutekunst, the source of Rodgers’ reported anger since the general manager drafted Jordan Love in 2020 without speaking with Rodgers first, said he was “hopeful” of a positive outcome.

“We want him to come back, we are committed to him for 2021 and beyond,” Murphy told shareholders, adding that the stalemate was a “difficult situation, but let’s not forget all the great things that he did “.

Veteran Packers report Tuesday and first practice is scheduled for Wednesday.
