ESTERO, Florida – A woman from Florida decided to transport her full-size sofa using her MINI Cooper convertible.
The woman was filmed driving her convertible MINI Cooper, hauling her cargo in a different and dangerous way.
“It’s a horrible idea,” said Lt. Greg Bueno of the Florida Highway Patrol. “The sofa itself is bigger than the MINI Cooper. “
The video was taken on Monday at the Estero Community Bridge. The woman can be seen holding the sofa with one hand that should be on the steering wheel.
Lt. Bueno said there were a multitude of issues with this photo.
“It is not properly strapped in,” Lt. Bueno said. “She’s holding him with her right arm. It is an obstruction of sight.
If you’re unfamiliar with MINI Cooper’s, they’re not big cars, far from it.
“It is simply too big an object to place on a MINI Cooper,” said Lt. Bueno.
What the video and photos don’t show is where it leads.
The bridge crosses the busy I-75. If that couch were to come loose for any reason, it would put drivers on the bridge and those below on the freeway at risk.
“This is how tragedies happen, and we have had far too recently in our local community,” said Lt. Bueno.
If soldiers catch drivers carrying a sofa like this, you might face a quote.
