More than a third of Americans say they’ve had to cut back on groceries to afford gas as prices soar in second year of Biden’s presidency, University survey finds Quinnipiac published this week.
Gas prices have skyrocketed throughout President Biden’s tenure. On Thursday, the national gas price average stood at $4.225 per gallon, although some parts of the country are seeing prices well above $6.00 per gallon.
While Biden has swerved, continuing to blame Russia for rising prices and inflation rather than his own bad economic policies and determination to undo American energy independence, not all Americans buy him. A plurality, 41%, directly attribute high gas prices to Biden’s economic policies, the survey found.
He also asked respondents, “Due to rising gas prices, have you reduced your grocery expenses so you can pay for gas or not?”
More than a third of Americans, 35%, said “yes” they had to cut back on grocery spending. Party by party, 46% of Republicans said they had to cut back on grocery spending, and 22% of Democrats and 36% of independent voters said the same.
The survey, conducted March 24-28, 2022 among 1,462 American adults, has a margin of error of +/- 2.6%.
A few weeks ago, Biden dismissed concerns about high gas prices, telling reporters harshly, “There’s not much I can do right now.
“Russia is responsible,” he asserted, without acknowledging that gas prices were on the rise long before Russia invaded Ukraine.
Biden has also failed to connect rising gas prices to his efforts to undo American energy independence, which he began on day one.
“Relaxing environmental regulations or withdrawing clean energy investments won’t – let me explain – won’t – won’t lower energy prices for families,” he said. claims.
Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), spoke to Breitbart News about rising gas prices in Biden’s America this week and said there are had “there is no doubt that Joe Biden is directly responsible for our currently high gas prices. »
“The fact that this administration refuses to do what Donald Trump has done that works so well just shows” that their actions “are intentional,” Banks said, concluding that Biden and his allies “want Americans to suffer at the gas pump. essence”.
