A projection broadcast on the Moscow embassy targets “American warmongers”

A projection appeared on the facade of the US Embassy in Moscow overnight blaming the US for children killed in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine, video shows share by Russian state media.

“The blood of the children of Donbass is in the hands of American warmongers,” read one of the projected images.

The creators of the video, who were not named by state news agency RIA Novosti, told the outlet that they timed the screening for Children’s Day, which is celebrated in the former Soviet bloc on June 1st.

“Today we remember the children of Donbass killed by Ukrainian Nazis with the support of American warmongers,” the projection reads, referring to President Vladimir Putin’s claims that Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine was a attempt to “denazify and demilitarize” the country.

The nighttime screening was followed by a slide show and a list of two dozen children presumed dead in fighting between Russian-backed separatists and Ukrainian government forces in eastern Ukraine since 2014.

The United Nations estimates that 152 children were killed in the Donbass conflict between spring 2014 and the end of 2021, with 3,400 civilian deaths.

This too believes that at least 264 children had been killed since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine in late February.
