A major gravel spill blocks traffic on Highway 72

COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – The Tuscumbia Police Department (TPD) is advising drivers to avoid part of Highway 72 due to a gravel spill.

According to a Facebook post on Tuesday, a large gravel spill blocked traffic on Highway 72. The spill occurred between the Harley Davidson dealership and the Highway 43/Highway 72 intersection.

Chief Tony Logan said while there were no injuries, there was a lot of damage to the vehicle. They attempt to open the road and use digger trucks to clear the roadway.

Chief Logan asks drivers to avoid the area as there is only one lane going east and west.
