A Corrections Assistant Charged With Bringing Methamphetamine Into Lauderdale Co.

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Alabama – A man who works at the Lauderdale County Detention Center has been charged with bringing drugs into the jail.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office said Corrections Assistant Matthew Moran, 20, was arrested on Friday after an investigation.

Moran is charged with attempting to commit a crime of controlled substance, distributing a controlled substance and promoting smuggling in prison.

Moran has been employed by the Sheriff’s Office for about a year.

Investigators said that at the time of Moran’s arrest, he was attempting to bring a package of methamphetamine inside the prison.

The sheriff’s office expects more arrests to result from the investigation.
