A 35th Space in a context of transition – Economy

Much awaited by the agricultural world and its suppliers, Space will bring together more than 1,100 exhibitors, from September 14 to 16, at the Rennes exhibition center. A 35th edition focused on three days and completed, on Friday 17th, by a digital day. “In the health context, the participation is very strong”, rejoices Marcel Denieul, the president of the show, the first international meeting of breeding since the beginning of the year. Among these exhibitors, 223 are new and 323 foreign.

Strong participation favorable to innovation: beyond the presence of the 60 winners of the last two editions of Innov’Space, the start-ups of the Agretic program, led by Bretagne Développement Innovation, will be supplemented by those of Village by CA .

Animal wellbeing

“The breeder and his animals, a shared well-being” is the theme of this new edition of Space which will open in a context of transition for the world of breeding. “When we are wondering about the future of our productions, Space is a place of exchange with our partners, not a moment to express our dissatisfaction. », Underlines André Sergent, president of the Brittany Chamber of Agriculture.

If the profession confirms the need to go further in breeding conditions, Didier Lucas believes that we must not forget the remuneration of breeders. Two questions, inseparable for the profession. They will be at the heart of the discussions scheduled at the Espace pour demain for which the president of the Côtes-d’Armor chamber of agriculture will be the main facilitator.

Green pact

In charge of the “sustainability and income support” directorate at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture, Pierre Bascou will be, in this context, one of the eagerly awaited guests of Space. The senior European official agreed to come and speak on Wednesday September 15 about the new reform of the Common Agricultural Policy. In particular questions of the green pact, the famous Green deal on which Breton farmers are still wondering, “even if Brittany will generally preserve its gains compared to previous reforms”, points out André Sergent. In total, around a hundred conferences are scheduled.
