Trump on Truth Social IT MAKES EVEN MORE SENSE | Arwa Mahdawi

LLadies, are you DEPRESSED and UNHAPPY? Do you feel POORER and UNHEALTHIER than you did four years ago? Are you praying that one day your little female brain will STOP THINKING ABORTION all the time? Well, don’t worry, Donald Trump is going to fix ALL THAT.

That’s what he says, anyway. Friday night at 11:42 PM, Trump flexed his fingers, hit the caps lock key, and went on a rampage on Truth Social about how UNHAPPY women are under the Biden administration. I wonder what happened at 11:41 PM to trigger this? Did he catch a glimpse of some new polls that show him trailing Kamala Harris, thanks in part to a historic gender gap that has Harris leading among women 58% to 37%? Did Trump decide, in his infinite wisdom, that the best way to deal with this problem was to launch into an all-caps rant? Because I’m not sure that’s a winning strategy.

I know you’d probably rather whitewash your eyes, but I encourage you to take a look at Trump’s incoherent message for yourself. Really take in his ramblings—unedited by journalists desperately trying to make his various crazy statements coherent—and remember that there’s a real chance this guy could become president again. We’re all so numb to Trump that we sometimes forget he can’t even string a sentence together. No reputable employer would hire someone who posts the kind of stuff he does, and yet he could soon land the biggest job in the world. Again. Even though Harris is ahead of Trump in the latest polls, the numbers are still within the margin of error. This is an extremely close race.

Like many people who desperately want the carnage in Gaza, and now Lebanon, to stop, I have lost hope that Harris will do any meaningful work toward a ceasefire. I dread a Trump presidency, but I also have no enthusiasm for a Harris presidency. Yet the fact that just weeks before the election we find ourselves in a situation where a highly qualified woman is standing shoulder to shoulder with an extremist sexual predator and a convicted felon who writes nightly diatribes in all caps is a stunning indictment of American politics. GOD HELP US ALL.
