Bronny James Can’t Call LeBron ‘Dad’ As Teammate

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and his son Bronny James will have to adjust their title as teammates next season.

In a clip from a new episode of Uninterrupted’s “The Shop,” LeBron addressed one of the most anticipated storylines when playing with his son: Can Bronny call LeBron “Daddy” in the locker room, at practice and during games?

“He can’t call me dad at my workplace,” LeBron said.

Bronny was selected 55th overall in the 2024 NBA draft by the Lakers, where his father, LeBron, is entering his seventh season. Prior to Bronny’s draft, no active father-son duo had ever played simultaneously in the NBA.

“Once we leave the private facility and the doors are closed, I could be a dad again (and) in the car if we’re driving together, at home I could be a dad,” LeBron said.

LeBron has options on how the 19-year-old can call out his dad in basketball environments.

“He can call me ‘2-3’ or ‘Bron’ or, you know, ‘GOAT’ if he wants. It’s up to him.

“We can’t run down the court and he’d be like, ‘Daddy, push the ball up! Daddy, I’m free! Daddy, come on!'” LeBron said.

James enters his 21st NBA season with the Lakers after agreeing to return to the franchise on a two-year, $104 million contract that includes a player option for 2025-26 with a no-trade clause.

Bronny agreed to a four-year contract worth $7.9 million with a team option on the final year of his contract.
