Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster Reappear With March Release Date

After an unexpected delay and a silent disappearance for a year, Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster has reappeared with a new release date of March 6, 2025.

In today’s Nintendo Partner Direct, we got a new look at the remastered collection, whose full title is Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster: Gate Dawn and Dunan Unification Wars. The trailer highlighted two new features added in the remaster, the ability to speed up battles to 2x and 4x, and an auto-battle button.

Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster were first announced in 2022 with a planned release date of 2023. At the time, we learned that the game would receive a major visual overhaul with new screen effects, pixel sprites, and environmental graphics. All character portraits have been updated to HD, and the portraits from the first game have been redrawn. Additional improvements have been made to sound and small features, including a dialogue log.

Almost exactly a year ago, Konami delayed the release of the collection, claiming only that additional time was needed to ensure quality. No new release date was announced at the time.

Suikoden is a classic RPG series that has always been exclusive to the PlayStation, with all five main games released on the console between 1995 and 2006. The series is best known for its cast of over 100 recruitable characters. We rated both games positively in their original releases, with Suikoden 1 earning a 9/10 and Suikoden 2 earning the same rating.
