KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) — A day after Kansas City won a bid to host the 2026 World Cup, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said there would be 50 million dollars worth of upgrades to Arrowhead Stadium.
Arrowhead Stadium will be the host stadium for all games in the city.
“The only real cost right now is $50 million in upgrades to Arrowhead Stadium,” Lucas said in a tweet. “Look for a request to the state on this in addition to private fundraising to fund this step. Unless the future of the stadium cat progresses further.
In the same tweet thread, Lucas said additional costs would be required for “increased transit between stadiums and city population centers and the airport”.
