Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is having an MVP season himself.

While he’s enjoying success without star receiver Tyreek Hill, finding him another receiver doesn’t hurt.

With Odell Beckham Jr. still a free agent, the Chiefs may sign him.

However, some might question signing Beckham as Mahomes is doing just fine without him.

But there are three reasons the Chiefs need to sign Beckham.

3. OBJ can remove heat from Kelce

Playing against the Chiefs and their offense means you need to cover Travis Kelce.

Since he is one of Mahomes’ main targets, he needs someone to calm Kelce down.

Beckham can do that and leave Kelce open to more individual targets.

2. With Smith-Schuster injury, KC needs OBJ

Outside of Kelce, Mahomes had JuJu Smith-Schuster.

However, with Smith-Schuster suffering from a concussion, the Chiefs can use Beckham’s help.

Although his concussion won’t hold him back for long, it’s how he recovers that will make the difference.

Having OBJ gives Mahomes someone else, in case Smith-Schuster can’t get back to normal this season.

1. OBJ gives Mahomes a veteran receiver

Having a veteran receiver is always a plus for any NFL team.

With Beckham having tons of experience, this gives Mahomes a reliable target.

Although he has his best contacts with his tight end, it helps to have another veteran target.

He knows how to get the separation and give Mahomes an open target.

Signing him can easily increase the team’s chances of winning the Super Bowl.
