3 players to watch in the pre-season for the Lions

Football time is almost upon us and Detroit Lions fans are watching their roster closely.

While some fans are excited about Adrian Hutchinson, there are other players to watch as well.

The 2022 season won’t be limited to the rookies the Lions got in the NFL Draft.

It will be about who can prove they are worthy of a spot on the roster with their outstanding pre-season play.

So what are the three players people should watch during the pre-season on the Lions roster?

3. Adrian Hutchinson

The second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft is clearly a player to watch in the preseason.

While many fans are all over him, he could easily be a bust with the team.

He only had one wonderful season at the University of Michigan, facing David Ojabo.

Some NFL fans believe it was Ojabo who brought Hutchinson out last year with Michigan.

His 2020 injury and his inconsistency at Michigan are cause for concern for him.

That’s what makes him a player fans should watch during the preseason because he might show he’s not ready for the NFL.

It will also show if he may have improved on his flaws, which is what he needs to do to be successful in the NFL.

2. By André Swift

The University of Georgia third-year running back is the team’s best running back since Barry Sanders.

While he’s not the next Sanders, he can give the team around 100 ground games.

In fact, he was the fourth 100-yard rusher for the Lions since 2013.

Last season, he had two games for 100+ yards, something the Lions have seen little in the years since Sanders left.

However, injuries have been part of his career and have hampered him and his talent on the pitch.

A groin injury during training camp last year would keep him on injury report in the 2021 pre-season.

So seeing if he’s healthy at the start and throughout pre-season will show if he’s ready for the game this season.

That’s what puts him number two on this list of pre-season players to watch for the Lions.

1. DJ Chark

DJ Chark has big shoes to fill as he is set to be the top receiver for the 2022 season.

With former great Calvin Johnson as the last wide receiver in Detroit, those shoes might be tough to fill.

However, the pre-season will give Lions fans a taste of what they’re getting with Chark.

Detroit got him after the Jacksonville Jaguars let him go during the 2022 NFL offseason.

But what makes him someone to watch is how he performs after a season-ending injury.

The 2021 season saw him fracture his ankle in week four, ending his season and his chances of having a good season.

With injuries being a major issue for him since joining the NFL, his health is something to watch.

However, with only one 1,000-yard season under his belt, most will be looking to see if he can produce in 2022.
