3 nurses from North Kansas City help give birth on a plane over the Pacific Ocean | New

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) — Three nurses from the North Kansas City hospital helped deliver a baby on a plane bound for Hawaii.

Lavinia Mounga unexpectedly gave birth to baby Raymond on a Delta Airlines flight from Utah to Honolulu late last week.

North Kansas City hospital nurses Lani Bamfield, Amanda Beeding and Mimi Ho were on board to help Mounga give birth.

“We were about halfway through the flight and we heard someone call for medical help,” Bamfield said. “I went to see what was going on and I saw her over there with a baby in her hands, and it’s not much.

The plane was flying over the Pacific Ocean when Mounga went into labor.

The three nurses in North Kansas City have been trained to care for premature or sick babies, according to the hospital.

They worked with Hawai’i Pacific Health family physician Dr. Dale Glenn to take care of the baby and mother.

A video of the event drew 8 million views on TikTok.

A GoFundMe has been set up to assist the family.
