3 killed at St. Francis Medical Building; dead shooter

At least three people were killed Wednesday in a shooting at a medical center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, authorities said, adding that the suspected gunman was also dead.

According to Tulsa Police Department Capt. Richard Meulenberg, “several” people were injured and “some were unfortunately killed.”

Officers responded to a report of a man armed with a rifle at St. Francis Medical Campus, which “evolved into an active shooter situation.” Tulsa City Councilman Jayme Fowler told the local News station on the 6th that the shooter committed suicide.

“And above all, I think we can say on behalf of everyone here in the city that our thoughts and prayers go out to these three victims,” Fowler said.

St. Francis Health System closed its campus Wednesday afternoon due to the situation at the Natalie Medical Building. Police said officers were going from room to room in the building.

The Natalie building houses an outpatient surgery center and a breast health center. People were asked to avoid the area.

The shooting in Tulsa comes after two high-profile massacres in Buffalo, New York, where 10 black people were killed, and Uvalde, Texas, where 19 children and two teachers were killed in May.
