3 gunshot wounds during NBA Finals celebrations in downtown Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (UPDATE) – Milwaukee Police are investigating two separate shooting incidents during the NBA Finals celebration early Wednesday morning.

Police said a 19-year-old Milwaukee woman and a 32-year-old Milwaukee man were injured in a shooting near N. Water St. and W. Juneau St. at around 12:40 a.m. injuries.

The circumstances that led to the shooting are being investigated and police have taken a suspect into custody.

At around the same time, a 22-year-old man was dropped off at the local hospital for a shooting incident near N. Water and W. Knapp streets.

CBS 58 spoke to two fans who were partying on Water last night but say they left before the shooting.

They say that’s not the way fans expected their nights to end or the news they wanted to hear this morning.

“It’s just sad that this has happened. As a city we just need to be a little better. Nothing like this should happen. We’re all here for the same reasons,” said fan David Rosengarten.

“I’ve been going down Water Street, Brady Street for several years and it was totally surprising. Totally caught off guard, and even more surprising because the city is in a good mood and we just won a championship,” fan Laron said. . Burnett.

The circumstances that led to the shooting are being investigated and the police also have a suspect in custody.
