3 firefighters and 12 others injured in fire in Brooklyn, New York

Three firefighters were injured in a blaze in Brooklyn that also injured 12 civilians, the FDNY said.

The fire started just after 3:45 a.m. Saturday on the first floor of a seven-storey building on Homecrest Avenue in Sheepshead Bay.

Nearly 120 firefighters were called to the scene at 2665 Homecrest Ave. as the fire quickly spread to the upper floor, according to the FDNY.

It took nearly an hour and a half before the fire was brought under control at 5:10 a.m., officials said.

Three firefighters and 12 residents suffered minor injuries, officials said. The firefighters were taken to hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, the FDNY said.
