3 best shots of Rishabh Pant against Hyderabad

Rishabh Pant and his Delhi Capitals (DC) men have had a season full of ups and downs so far. Although they had some impressive wins, the Capitals also fell short in a number of chases, most of which they led.

They will next face a side Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) who have suffered two defeats after winning five games in a row. Both teams have arguably reached a point of no return as they know every game from now on could be a virtual knockout for their chances of making the playoffs.

Rishabh Pant has scored 234 points in nine games this season averaging 33.43. But the DC skipper has yet to play that winning move to bring his team home. The Capitals desperately need their captain to step in and scoring against the Sunrisers could be a great opportunity for Pant.

Despite not having a 50 against SRH, Pant has a sensational average of 46.60 after 14 games and also scored his highest IPL score of 128* against the same opposition.

On that note, let’s take a look at Rishabh Pant’s top three moves against SRH:

#3 39*(26), Match 42, IPL 2016

On this day in 2016, Rishabh Pant made his IPL debut for Delhi Daredevils. 5 years later, he is one of the most trusted people in the team and valiantly leading the Delhi Capitals.❤️💙 https://t.co/Nuni9QmrmQ

Delhi Capitals (then known as Delhi Daredevils) had invested in a young Rishabh Pant after his exploits at the 2016 U19 World Cup. It was one of the first good impressions he made on one bigger stages.

SRH only posted 146/8, but it was a slow pitch and the chase was always going to be tricky. Although it looked like the Daredevils were on course to win comfortably, they were in a tight spot at 78/3 when Rishabh Pant came out at bat.

The young southpaw played his natural game and took all the pressure off Sanju Samson at the other end. The two youngsters timed the chase perfectly and ensured Delhi comfortably won by seven wickets in the end.

Pant’s crucial cameo in these conditions proved to be a catalyst in Delhi’s victory.

#2 49(21), Eliminator, IPL 2019

How is @RishabPant777 not in the World Cup squad……I’m pretty sure #India still time to change…….!!!!! #Bonkers #IPL19

Rishabh Pant’s consistency was one of the main reasons the newly named Delhi Capitals qualified for the playoffs in their first season. The southpaw played one of the game-winning shots of the season under pressure in the Eliminator against SRH.

The Sunrisers posted a competitive total of 162/8 and had a bowling offense perfectly capable of defending the total. Prithvi Shaw scored a fine half century, but the wickets continued to plummet at the other end.

Rashid Khan was at his best, with numbers of 2/15. But the best part of Pant’s innings was that he paced his shot according to the demands of the chase. Pant found the border odd when needed and nearly took DC to the brink of victory.

Despite being sent off in the penultimate innings, DC secured a thrilling win by two wickets and progressed to Qualifier 2 against Chennai Super Kings.

#1 128* (63), Match 42, IPL 2018

Rishabh Pant set the IPL on fire with his stick for the Daredevils in the 2018 edition. He scored 684 points in 14 games, his best shot against SRH.

The Daredevils were struggling at 21/2 in their clash with SRH when Pant came out at bat. The wickets continued to fall to one side, but the southpaw continued to beat on a completely different level.

Rishabh Pant broke an unbeaten 128 from just 63 balls which was then the record for the highest IPL score by an Indian. The youngster smashed 15 fours and seven sixes in the extraordinary round and single-handedly took the Daredevils to a competitive 187/5 total.

Although SRH won the match at a gallop, Pant’s shot remains one of the best ever by an Indian in the IPL.
