Kota, Rajasthan:
A 22-year-old NEET aspirant is believed to have hanged himself in his hostel room below Kunhari Police Station here, police said on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Ranjeet Singh (22), a resident of Rajrooppur village in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh.
Police say he arrived in Kota and enrolled in a coaching institute in August last year.
According to a 4-5 page handwritten note recovered from Singh’s room, he was disturbed, DSP area circle officer Shankar Lal said.
He had written about spiritualism, depression and gods and goddesses, he added.
While speaking with Singh on a call on Sunday, his family got a clue about their son’s condition. They had even left for Kota to meet him. However, by the time they arrived at the hostel, Singh had taken his own life, the official said.
He had also been skipping school since mid-December last year, the commander said.
The body was released to the father after the autopsy later that evening and further investigation into the case is ongoing.
