Things got a little chaotic on Saturday, but Scottie Scheffler came out on top.
Scheffler, who contributed the birdie to start his day, rallied late to take a one-shot lead on a loaded leaderboard heading into Sunday’s final round at Augusta National. Scheffler birdied the final hole to take a solo lead and finish at 1-under 71. That gave him a one-shot lead with 18 holes to play.
If he can hold off the rest of the field, Scheffler will earn his second career green jacket on Sunday night.
Collin Morikawa sits in second place at 6 under after shooting a 3-under 69 on Saturday. He was briefly in the lead on Saturday, with four others at one point, but held on as everyone else pulled away. Bryson DeChambeau, who started the day with a share of the lead, finished the round at 3 under after a brutal late collapse. He made a birdie at the 18th, which helped save his round.
Tiger Woods qualified for a 24th consecutive time at the Masters on Friday, breaking a tie with Gary Player and Fred Couples for batting average. But Saturday didn’t go well at all. Woods posted a 10-over 82 in his third round, averaging .
