2021 US Olympic Swimming Trials: TV show, live broadcasts to watch Wave 2 qualifying for Tokyo

It’s time to decide who is going to Tokyo with the USA swim caps.

Following the conclusion of Wave 1 of the US Olympic Swimming Trials on June 7, the nation’s top swimmers will compete at the CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha, Nebraska, to fight for the few spots on the Olympic teams.

The lineup of swimmers ready to compete in the week’s long wave 2 are stacked. Five-time Olympic gold medalist and three-world record holder Katie Ledecky competes again in her free distance events, and Simone Manuel will return to the free sprint events after setting a new Olympic and US record in the 100-meter freestyle in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

On the men’s side, Ryan Lochte will try to match Michael Phelps for the most Olympic qualifiers. Two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-world record holder Caeleb Dressel will be among the many contenders vying for a spot on the Olympic team, as will three-time gold medalist Ryan Murphy, who holds the world record in the 100 long run. – backstroke meter.

How to watch the Olympic Swimming Trials in the United States

  • TV channels: NBC, NBC Sports

NBC has the exclusive rights to all Olympic content in the United States and, as such, they will be hosting the swim trials from June 13-20.

TV program

Each day, several preliminary races will take place in the morning, with the qualifying heats for the finals taking place each morning at 11 a.m. and another semi-final later in the day. The first round of preliminaries can only be seen on NBCOlympics.com, while the evening semi-finals will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network.

The finals for each event are scheduled to air on NBC at 8 p.m. every night, except Friday and Saturday, where they will be at 9 p.m., and Thursday, where there will be a final starting at 8 p.m. and another at 22 h.

2021 Olympic Swimming Trials Calendar

Wave 2

Until June 20, there will be preliminary heats each day in the morning with the US Olympic team scrambling to narrow the field to select their team. After a qualifying round there will be semi-finals for several events which will start in the early evening and final rounds which will be held as the last event of each day.

On the last day of Wave 2, there will only be finals for the two events of the 50 freestyle and the 1500 freestyle men.

2021 Olympic Swimming Trials Results

The top two swimmers in each event will earn spots on the Olympic team, while the next four swimmers in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle will earn spots to swim in the Olympic relay units.
