2 killed in Hollywood I-95 crash after driver loses control of ramp, soldiers say


Two people were killed on Friday in a rollover accident that closed an off-ramp off Interstate 95 and a section of Hollywood Boulevard in both directions, soldiers from the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened shortly after 6 a.m. when a driver exiting I-95 southbound toward Hollywood Boulevard lost control and crashed into another vehicle at the intersection, according to FHP.

One of the cars rolled onto its side against the wall under the I-95 overpass. The other wrecked car was leaning against a post. The I-95 ramp remains closed. Hollywood Boulevard in the neighborhood is also closed in both directions, according to Hollywood police.

A video taken by Local 10 earlier on Friday showed fire crews using the jaws of life to hit at least one person trapped in one of the cars.

Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Yanko Reyes said two people died in the crash. Their identity will not be revealed until the family is informed.

Soldiers and police are asking drivers to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
