Over 1.1 million “plus-up” payments, valued at over $ 2.5 billion, were sent this time around. The IRS said more than 8 million “plus-up” payments have been issued so far this year.

The last two weeks of checks include over 1.2 million direct deposit checks with a total value of over $ 2.2 billion, as well as paper checks.

The IRS recommends that people who typically do not file tax returns file their 2020 taxes now in order to get the benefits they are entitled to, including the 2020 Recovery Refund Credit, Child Tax Credit and the earned income tax credit.

People who receive some form of federal benefits, including Social Security, must file a 2020 income tax return so that the IRS has their most recent information, including on eligible dependents, in order to issue claims. payments.

Homeless people and others who do not receive federal benefits may still be eligible for stimulus checks, but they must file an income tax return to receive the money, the IRS said.
