16-year-old rapes 58-year-old woman, then kills her with a sickle

A 16-year-old boy allegedly raped a 58-year-old woman and murdered her by gagging and brutally beating her in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh in a crime suspected of being the victim of a mobile phone theft he two years ago, police said on Sunday. .

The incident happened on the night of January 30 in the village of Kailashpuri below the boundaries of Hanumana police station.

The boy allegedly stuffed a plastic bag and a rag into her mouth, dragged her to an under construction part of the building where she was staying, hit her head and other body parts with a sickle and also injured her. his private parts with a stick, an official said.

The woman’s family had accused the boy of stealing a mobile phone two years ago and the boy wanted revenge, he said.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vivek Lal said a tip was received on February 1 that the body of a 58-year-old woman was lying in a building under construction.

Police and the forensic team arrived at the scene and it was discovered that the woman had been brutally murdered by an unidentified person, he said.

Based on reports from informants and the investigation, the police focused on the boy living in his neighborhood.

The woman’s family members also expressed suspicions about the boy, who used to come to their house to watch TV two years ago, the official said.

His family then accused him of stealing a mobile phone, which led to enmity between the boy and the family, police said.

The boy wanted revenge due to the embarrassment he was facing in the village over the theft charge, the official said.

On January 30, while the victim’s son and husband were away, the boy entered her home. He allegedly overpowered the woman who was sleeping on a cot and when she tried to scream he stuffed a polythene bag and a rag into her mouth, the police official said.

He then tied a plastic bag over her face using rope and wire and dragged her into an under-construction part of the building, Lal said.

After tying her to a door, the boy allegedly punched the woman repeatedly and raped her when she became immobile after being choked, the official said.

He also struck the victim’s head, hands, throat and chest with a sickle and injured his private parts with a stick, Lal said.

The boy then fled after taking 1,000 rupees in cash and jewelry kept in the woman’s house, he said.

“After being detained, the boy admitted to the crime during questioning,” the official said.

He was sent to a juvenile home and a case was registered against him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 302 (murder), 376 (rape), 460 (concealed trespass or burglary at night), 380 ( theft) and 201. (resulting in the disappearance of evidence of an offence), police added.
