16-year-old charged with murdering his grandmother after her husband finds his 64-year-old wife dead

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A 16-year-old boy is charged in the death of his 64-year-old grandmother, deputies say.

On Wednesday evening, Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a medical emergency in Vickery, in northeast Harris County. Deputies say a man called 911 after discovering his wife dead with multiple stab wounds on his way home from work.

The woman killed has been identified as Delia Arriaga. In the original ABC13 report, investigators told reporter Courtney Fischer that it did not appear the killer had forced his way inside. This detail left the question now unanswered: Did Arriaga let her killer in because she knew them?

Investigators said forensic evidence from the scene led them to the 16-year-old grandson as Arriaga’s killer, but did not reveal a motive.

Arriaga was a wife and mother of 7 children, three biological and four stepchildren. She was a grandmother of 15 and a great-grandmother of three.

The teenager is charged with murder and released to Harris County juvenile probation.
