14-year-old among three people shot and injured in Altgeld Gardens neighborhood

CHICAGO (CBS) – Chicago police are investigating a shooting that injured a man, a woman and a teenage boy in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood of Chicago.

Authorities said it happened in the 13000 block of South Champlain Avenue just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Police said the victims were approached by an unknown person while in the yard. The suspect showed them a handgun and then fired.

The 14-year-old boy was shot in the arm and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital. It is said to be in good condition. A 24-year-old man was punched in the face and taken to University of Chicago Hospital. It is also in good condition.

A 45-year-old woman suffered a chest abrasion and is also in good condition at the University of Chicago Hospital.

Police said a weapon was recovered from the scene, but there were no arrests.
