10-year-old child savagely attacked by monkeys
A 10-year-old child did not survive an attack by a pack of particularly aggressive monkeys in a village in Salki, India.
The attack that occurred last Tuesday is the third in a week in the same village, a phenomenon explained in part by the consequences of deforestation, according to experts.
The boy was playing with his friends near a temple when he was savagely attacked by a group of langur monkeys, France Live reported citing “The Independent”.
The victim was rushed to hospital but did not survive his serious injuries caused by the violent attack.
Local elected officials pressed to act told local media that two langurs had been captured and “placed in cages to trap another”.
“There is a large troop of monkeys in the village, including four adults who have been involved in attacks over the past week,” an elected official told Indian channel NDTV.
Although langur attacks on humans are rare, the monkeys are forced to leave their natural habitat to feed, it was said.
Last September, during the G20 summit in New Delhi, the authorities used men disguised as monkeys and fake primates to scare away the macaque troops.
