10 people injured in shooting in Florida: police

LAKELAND, Florida — A mass shooting in a Florida town left 10 people injured, the Lakeland Police Department said Monday.

Police say two victims are seriously injured and eight are facing non-life-threatening injuries.

“One is in surgery and one is in surgery or heading for surgery,” Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor said Monday at a news conference.

Police responded to calls of a shooting at a location near Iowa Avenue North and Plum Street at 3:43 p.m.

All of the victims were adult men between the ages of 20 and 35, according to Taylor.

Lakeland police have not identified any suspects, but believe four suspected shooters fired shots from both sides of the street from their vehicle, which Taylor described as a four-door Nissan.

Police believe the shooting was not random and the victims were targeted.
