1 person killed on Parkway, police search for tractor-trailer

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A person was struck and killed by a vehicle early Wednesday morning, according to the Huntsville Police Department.

Lt. Patterson told News 19 that a white man, possibly in his 40s, was walking down the boardwalk when he was hit by a woman driving a white SUV. Patterson says the driver was not injured.

After the man was hit, Patterson says he fell into the queue of a tractor-trailer and was hit. The lieutenant confirmed that the man died at the scene.

Authorities believe the driver of the tractor-trailer does not know he hit someone. HPD has issued a “Be a Lookout” for Morgan County authorities for the 18-wheeler.

Just after 4:30 a.m., HPD responded to the area of ​​Memorial Parkway and Drake Avenue in response to a pedestrian collision.

Memorial Parkway has been closed from Drake Avenue to Bob Wallace Avenue while emergency crews are at the scene. Traffic is being diverted and authorities are urging drivers to take alternative routes.
